Location: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan (Based out of Brooks, AB)

Position Summary:
We are looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to join our HSE Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing the day-to-day field tasks of the HSE department and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of ACSA COR and OHS legislation. This position will coordinate health, safety and environmental programs, processes and activities to assist the operations team in maintaining compliance. There is a strong focus on all administrative duties related to the HSE Department, and requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, proficiency in time management, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. There is a strong emphasis on safety culture, HSE performance, and being part of solutions that make us better.
This position ideally will be 5 days on with 2 days off and will require extensive travel throughout Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The position will support the work completed out of the Brooks and Rimbey offices and will also require time in both offices. Depending on project requirements, weekends may occasionally be required.
Preference will be given to those located in southern Alberta. Tentative start date March 2nd, 2026.
Truck, fuel card, phone, laptop and LOA will be provided for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Acts as the first point-of-contact for HSE, security inquiries and incidents in your area of responsibility.
  • Provide guidance to operations team members on HSE and security matters, and escalate inquiries where appropriate.
  • Coordinate the implementation of League and clients HSE programs along with related processes, procedures and resources.
  • Coordinate HSE activities including, but not limited to, health and safety committee meetings and activities, incident investigations and resolutions, safety meetings, return-to-work program, and compliance audits.
  • Assists the Joint Health and Safety Committee Representative(s) with issues that may arise.
  • Provide safety training and coaching to employees on topics such as hazard recognition, emergency response, and personal protective equipment.
  • Assists with creating and maintaining HSE documentation such as programs, plans, procedures, practices, etc.
  • Provide HSE administrative duties and maintain HSE documentation as per company and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct field and shop inspections, job observations, HSE audits and other types of reviews for the purpose of monitoring compliance of HSE requirements. Provide findings and suggestions for improvement.
  • Construct and develop safety plans, traffic management plans, etc.
  • Work closely with contractors, vendors, and other personnel to ensure the HSE program is adhered to.
Incident Investigation, Resolution & Reduction
  • Assists in the investigation and resolution of incidents including root-cause analysis and providing probable causes of incidents and recommendations for resolution.
  • Coordinate and implement corrective and preventative measures.
  • Assist in the identification and analysis of trends. Communicate observations and provide suggestions for incident reduction measures.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
  • Certification in one or more of the following – Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, NCSO, CRSP.
  • Self-starter and ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of emergency management requirements.
  • Understands HSE regulatory requirements.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills along with ability to coordinate multiple requirements (i.e., processes, activities, projects, emergency response procedures, etc.) simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Have a basic knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment.
  • Strong administrative skills along with ability to maintain and report accurate data.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • NOTE: Skill and abilities may be assessed during the interview.
Experience Required:
  • 5 years minimum experience in a Safety role with a preference related to experience in working on construction projects in the oil & gas industry.
  • Clean drivers abstract and valid class 5 license.
